Construction underway for new spaces for music, counseling, offices

With student enrollment steadily growing, Oglethorpe has had to make some expansions. In 2020, Goodman Hall will be reverted back to a residence hall and the departments that currently occupy that building will be moved to new spaces across campus. Here are some of the changes coming early next year:

Music

The areas of music currently in Goodman will be relocated to the lower level of Lupton Hall with a dedicated entrance at the back of the building. This space will include four practice rooms, a large studio, a music lab, and a common area, all with modern furnishings. Additionally, these spaces will be newly outfitted with noise reduction products. The construction of this space is moving rapidly and is projected to finish at the end of December, with spaces usable at the start of the spring semester.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center will be moving to the lower level of Lowry Hall near the new digital media labs. The space will include a large waiting area and numerous counseling rooms, as well as a private entrance, accessible via the new ADA entrance, which will be moved to the back of Lowry. This build out will be completed and the Counseling Center up and running when students return for the spring semester.

University Communications

University Communications will be moving to the lower level of Lowry Hall, with room for Pegasus Creative student communications agency.  During this renovation, an additional conference room / seminar room will be created. This project is estimated to be completed in January.
